Riots directed at Jews throughout the Middle East threatened the legacy of Torah scholarship that had been built over generations. With many of their homes, stores and synagogues burned to the ground, hundreds of thousands were forced to flee what had been their homes for centuries. AND THEN IT ALL CHANGED. With the arrival of Sephardic olim to Eretz Yisrael, a new generation began to rebuild. The fire of Torah and Yahadut that had existed before began to thrive again, leading to the rapid growth of a Sephardic community in America as well. Under the guidance of various Torah scholars, a new world rose out of the ashes of the old, reviving the warmth and joy of Jewish life for today’s generation. Dirshu was founded as a continuation to the legacy of the past, and to bring back the fire and spirit that was the essence of the world that was lost. Dirshu’s mission is to increase Yedias HaTorah, Limud Mussar and Limud Halacha, and reignite the depth and joy of Limud HaTorah by instituting worldwide programs that encourage true acquisition of Torah and Halacha. 1947 • BottomLineMG.com 1997 •
