PICK ONE. ANY ONE. YOU CAN SAVE A LIFE. RENEWAL I would like to express my deepest appreciation to Renewal for the critical role their services played in my father’s recent kidney transplant. We had been searching for years to find a match for him. It was devastating to witness this once healthy and strong man become debilitated and progressively non-functional. As his illness progressed, he was unable to work and the stress on his family and friends became unbearable. Renewal took us in and led us through each step of the way. They worked tirelessly to find us a match. In order to ensure that donors would not be deterred by the thought of financial loss, they covered all the costs associated with testing and loss of work. In the end, despite the challenges, a match was found and the transplant was successfully completed. Renewal is quite an amazing organization. Whatever I do in my life is just a drop in the bucket compared to the great work they do! J. A. MAYOR SAM COHEN I really enjoyed last month’s article about the new Mayor of Deal, Mr. Sam Cohen. Judging from his past accomplishments, he certainly seems like the right person for the job. When it comes to his improving Deal, the possibilities are endless. In 1989, Red Nesser was the captain of the ULTIMATE WARRIORS. This team came all the way from last place, battled their way through the play-offs and eventually captured the championship title. I especiallyenjoythenewcolumn titled Community M.D. with Dr. Jacques Doueck. I was pleasantly surprised by last month’s topic of vertigo. I would like to share with your readers some additional information on this topic based on my own personal experiences with vertigo. There are two kinds of vertigo: subjective and objective. Objective vertigo is when you feel as if the room is moving, and subjective vertigo is when you feel like you are moving. Vertigo can be caused by many things; usually a condition in the inner ear or with the brain. Many people think that vertigo is a medical condition in itself when, in actuality, it is just a symptom. Some forms of vertigo will go away by themselves, while others will require medical treatment. It’s always best to visit a doctor to get your vertigo evaluated before doing anything about it. Getting a proper diagnosis is essential, so you know exactly what is causing your vertigo. Treatment will depend on the kind of vertigo you have. It may be caused by an inner ear disorder, a head injury, migraines, strokes, or tumors. It may also be something totally benign. This is why it’s essential that you find out what’s causing it. Once you’ve had it checked out, you can then take steps to minimize its effects.  Sharon S.
