MANHATTAN MEXIKOSHER – Chef Katsuij Tanabe of Los Angeles is opening a second branch of Mexikosher in New York City. This opening is long awaited. Great Kosher Restaurants hosted a few highly successful pop-ups with theMexican/Japanese Chef at Pitopia. The main response to the pop-ups was, “When will Mexikosher be opening in NYC?” Later this year, our wishes will finally come true. We’ve known about this for quite some time now but the details surrounding the new NYC Mexikosher branch are still hush-hush. We actually know the location but we have been sworn to secrecy, so you’ll just have to follow us closely for further information. However, we’ve hidden the details under a park bench in Manhattan... Whoever can find it will get the first carnita off the line at the new Mexikosher! PROMENADE BAR AND GRILL – The Promenade Bar and Grill is currently open and serving customers! They now boast a full liquor bar, a sushi bar and an entirely kosher menu! Customers can order wings, burgers, chicken and more while watching the playoffs. Supervision is under the OK. Many restaurants wait until after the holidays to open their doors. Business can finally get moving at a steady pace and they can test out the waters in their new space. Summer is always a popular time for restaurants to open because people want to have new and adventurous experiences once the temperature rises. If that means trying out the new restaurant on the block or even miles away, diners are up for anything. This month, we tell you about old restaurants being reborn and completely new restaurants that are just starting out. Chef Katsuij Tanabe 78 COMMUNITY MAGAZINE
