An alert neighbor witnessed a theft the week of November 23 rd on East 26th Street between Avenue M-N. She called Shomrim who responded immediately, and observed the suspect stealing packages from multiple homes. Shomrim called the 70th Precinct and proceeded to follow the suspect to East 21st Street and Dorchester where the suspect abandoned his car (still running!) and ran into an apartment building. The suspect was arrested and some of the packages were recovered and delivered to the rightful owners. It was found that the suspect had over twenty prior arrests. Big thanks and congratulations to Flatbush Shomrim and the 70th Precinct. This incident serves as another reminder that we all must keep our eyes open all the time! We are all the first line of crime prevention. We will be bringing our thanks and appreciation to our precincts again this year. This year, more than ever, their moral has been low and the need to show good will has never been more necessary. Man Arrested for Trying to Enter Ahi Ezer Synagogue in Brooklyn While Yelling Anti-Semitic Slurs Aman yelling anti-Semitic slurs on the steps of Ahi Ezer Congregation was arrested by the NYPD on Thursday morning, December 3 rd . The incident occurred at about 7:30am, when members of Ahi Ezer Congregation heard loud banging on the locked doors, and someone yelling on the steps of the synagogue located at 1885 Ocean Parkway at the corner of Avenue S. For a few minutes, the man, who is approximately 20-years-old and of Middle-Eastern descent, screamed anti-Semitic slurs, and tried breaking into the locked building. The NYPD and Flatbush Shomrim (FSSP) were called, and responded quickly. A police source commented that the man might possibly be emotionally disturbed, and that NYPD Detectives are reviewing security camera footage to make a determination if the case will be turned over to the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force. The man was taken into custody, and transported to Coney Island Hospital. Police and Shomrim remind everyone that informed, alert communities play a critical role in keeping our city and community safe. If you see something, say something!
