74 COMMUNITY MAGAZINE Community Chest Ahi Ezer Yeshiva News Updates On Tuesday November 10, 2015, Ahi Ezer Yeshiva, along with esteemed Board Members, Mr. Bunny Escava, Mr. Albert Ayal, Mr. Eli Levy, Mr. Aslan Bawabeh; Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Saul Maslaton, and administrator Mr. Jesse Mizrahi, welcomed the former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, HaRav Shlomo Amar, Sh’lita . Special thanks go to Mr. JackAvital who arranged this most inspirational day. Decorations of blue and white banners complete with a prominent sign, reading, “Beruchim Habaim Chief Rabbi” adorned the auditorium along with an Israeli and an American Flag. Rav Amar gave a captivating speech, later translated into English by Rabbi Maslaton, which all attending will surely never forget. The Rav’s speech expressed the supreme importance of learning Torah throughout one’s daily life. He spoke about Avraham Avinu’s daughter named Hakol . She was great at making friends and helping at home. Her name was a complete description of who she was. The Rav explained that each child here has a name and a purpose and a person’s name usually reflects who they are. Afterwards, the students escorted the Rabbi to his car. The school would like to thank all those who made it possible to grant Ahi Ezer Yeshiva the honor of hosting such a respectable Talmid Hacham . The Rabbi’s visit was certainly an event that all of our board members, faculty, and students will remember for years to come. 7th GRADE NEWS The 7th graders worked hard to prepare a beautiful “Under the Sea” Hanukah celebration. Sara Raoul, Rachel Mallakh, and Sarah Chalouh performed their adorable song and dance to introduce the “Under the Sea” party. Next, the talented dancers took the stage, led by the most amazing heads Orly Saadia and Joy Lati. Then, every girl participated in making dreidel cookies with the assistance of Mrs. Nina Hidary and Miss Chava Gitty Solomon. Thanks to the dedicated 7th graders, principals, and teachers the party was a real success! On December 9, 2015, the Ahi Ezer seventh graders hosted a Science Fair. Many of the projects highlighted the different natural disasters that occur on Earth and the effects that they have on human life. The seventh graders put much effort into these projects. This article was written by the administration of Ahi Ezer Yeshiva. Misameach Hosts Unforgettable Birthday Party for Chaim Levi Misameach is an organization dedicated to lifting the spirits and bringing joy to hundreds of children and adults who are hospitalized, bedridden, or going through serious illness. Their most recent event took place on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Misameach volunteers outdid themselves again, bringing joy and happiness into the life of a special birthday boy, Chaim Levi. The birthday was graciously hosted by Maurice and Michelle Zekaria of Deal NJ, in their beautiful home. Over 100 people attended the birthday party, which included the talented band headed by Betzalel Bree. The room was electrifying. The sensational singers included the famed Yaakov Shwekey, together with Berry Weber and Chili Posen. The DJs on duty were the incredible Matt Dubb and Mordy Ort. There was a delicious hot buffet for everyone to enjoy throughout the party, and amazing gifts were given to the elated birthday boy. This beautiful party was one Chaim Levi will remember for a very long time, for it was truly a special event. Junee Toy Drive The Junee Toy Drive has become an annual event that focuses on making the holidays sparkle for kids, teens, men, and women with special needs, as well as those who are ill. Junee believes that the smallest gift can mean the world to anyone, and it only takes a moment to let these wonderful individuals know that they are loved. That is exactly what the Junee Toy Drive accomplishes. Junee provides everything from toys and watches to radios and much more. Many volunteers, along with the the Junee and Junee Jr. Staff, attend Hanukah parties at different organizations and hospitals. They dance, sing, laugh and distribute the gifts while making the lives of special neshamot shine. New Taamim class by Raymond Janani Boys ages 8-13 are welcome to learn how to read the Torah Reading of the week in a new Taamim class, hosted byRaymond Janani and sponsored by Dr. Isaac and Lily Madeb. The class will be held at 2181 E3 Tuesday nights 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Rav Shlomo Amar, former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, delivering inspiring words to the students and faculty members of Ahi Ezer Yeshiva.
