Community Magazine July 2014

18 COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JERSEY SHORE MAYORS WELCOME THE COMMUNITY A very special welcome to all the families and friends returning to Deal and the Jersey Shore for the summer. On behalf of my fellow Commissioners, we welcome you to your summer homes in New Jersey! We are busy completing repairs to the Conover Pavilion and preparing the Deal Casino and the beaches for the summer of 2014! Our sanitary sewer pump station has been repaired and is back on line, and so the devastation brought on by Superstorm Sandy has been completely repaired. Plans for beach replenishment are scheduled to begin later this year and should be completed in 2015. This will provide an added element of protection to borough facilities and to property owners living on the beachfront. Summer is a special time for our residents here at the Shore with many memorable and festive occasions to be enjoyed. We want to emphasize the importance of careful driving, cycling and skateboarding. Everyone on a bicycle and skateboard should be wearing a helmet, and drivers should be watching for bicycles and pedestrians and driving within the posted speed limits! We wish you a safe and enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing you around town. Sincerely, Morris Ades Mayor of Deal I am very happy to welcome everyone back to Long Branch and the Jersey Shore for another wonderful summer season. While we have been unable to restore the boardwalk fromBrightonAvenue to MorrisAvenue because of the extensive damage to the bluff from Superstorm Sandy, we are in the process of redesigning it and waiting for approval from FEMA. However, a pedestrian walkway is available for walkers and joggers. Please note that bicycles will not be permitted in the pedestrian lanes – they will only be permitted on Ocean Avenue heading southbound in the traffic lane. No northbound bicycle traffic is allowed. I am pleased to say that all of our beaches will be open and accessible. Join us at our Fourth of July celebration, Oceanfest, the largest all-day festival in New Jersey, on Friday, July 4, 2014 from l0:00 AM – 10:00 PM on the promenade. The fireworks will be spectacular and will begin at around 9:15PM. Please make your summer safe and happy by observing all traffic and quality of life regulations in the area. The summer is one of the best times of the year to appreciate the Jersey Shore. I hope that you have a wonderful vacation. Sincerely, Adam Schneider Mayor, City of Long Branch Dear Community Members, Residents and Friends, Dear Friends,
