More importantly, the room offers a quiet place where family members can sit, relax, and spend time privately during this very difficult and emotional period. The rooms are also stocked with toys and games for the benefit of the children of families with a loved one in the hospital The Jack M. Gindi Hospitality Suite After making a generous contribution to Chesed 24/7, Debbi received a call from Rabbi Tzvi Miller, Director of Development at Chesed 24/7. He told her that he noticed she’d written “in memory” on the memo of the check, and wished to inquire about her situation. She met with the rabbi to learn more of the organization’s special work, and Debbi reflected on all that she and her family had been through. After meeting with Rabbi Miller and his team, Debbi decided to sponsor the name of the Chesed Hospitality Room in Cornell Hospital in Jack’s memory. The first arayat for Jack Gindi was held on May 5 th , in New York Cornell Hospital at 68th Street & York Ave, Room 107 in the Greenberg Pavilion. Unlike any other arayat , the special day included a ribbon cutting ceremony, inaugurating the new hospitality room, as well as the hanging of a mezuzah its door. This room will provide urgently-needed help for families of hospital patients, offering them 24/7 hesed – precisely the kind of loving generosity which characterized Jack Gindi.
