Community Magazine June 2012

A nticipation continues to build in the Syrian/Sephardic community in Brooklyn and New Jersey as scores of learning groups are poised to complete the Daf Yomi cycle of Talmud study this summer. Participants feel anticipation for each new day of learning, and anticipation for the upcoming Siyum HaShas on August 1st atMetLifeStadium. This momentous event will be far more than party for Daf Yomi participants. The event promises to bring everyone – regardless of background or origins –together to celebrate that which unites us as one: the Torah. Even more impressive, Daf Yomi participants from the community are not only looking forward to the Siyum, but also looking beyond – to the next day, the next daf, the new cycle. As new groups of Daf Yomi shiurim are forming and existing groups are growing, the energy and excitement throughout the community is palpable.
