Noticing a posting about Mitzvah Man in the Five Towns Shul listing, a cancer patient was moved to visit Mitzvah-Man.org to seek help in obtaining clothes for her disabled son. Within an hour of her initial contact, the woman received a reply to her request with the telephone number of a Mitzvah Man hero who would help. Inspired by the positive feedback of her initial request, the woman felt encouraged enough to enquire about another sorely needed favor. Unable to drive due to her illness, it was difficult for her to get to the store on a regular basis – especially in cold weather. So although she was able to stock-up on many non-perishable food items, it was difficult to maintain a supply of fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables for the household. Once again Mitzvah Man made the contacts, and within 24 hours, she had a Mitzvah Man hero standing by ready to delivery fresh produce on a weekly basis. Undeterred by the distance of the family, the MitzvahMan hero would regularly travel 20 minutes each way to drop the fruits and vegetables off at her home. But the Mitzvah Man didn’t stop there either! Realizing that the family needed a computer to stay in touch and conduct research, but could not afford one, he also supplied a new much needed laptop! One day, while the Mitzvah Queen was driving in Florida, a police officer puller her over for a minor traffic infraction. As the office was preparing to write the woman a ticket, the Mitzvah Queen smiled and asked, “Do you know what they call me?” Mystified, the officer responded, “No.” “The Mitzvah Queen!” she said. “Really? I’ve heard that word before,” the officer said. “My mom’s Jewish and she used to say that a ‘mitzvah’ is when you do something nice for others.” “That’s right!” the woman responded. “And I’ve had the pleasure of doing nice things for others for so long that they gave me the title ‘Mitzvah Queen.’” With that, the officer handed back to the Mitzvah Queen her license and said, “Ma’am, I am not going to give you a ticket. Please drive safely and have a lovely day.” The Mitzvah Queen Reveals Her Secret Identity “Have a lovely day.” “When you call Mitzvah Man – he delivers! I am deeply grateful for his services and the help he has provided for my son and me.” 52 Community Magazine
