Another point worth considering is that your husband himself may not be happy there, once you make the move. Things might not work out as planned. If you do decide that making the move is the right thing for you, it would seem reasonable for the benefit of both of you to “freeze” your life in America, as opposed to closing up shop and moving without leaving yourself an easy option to come back. For example, if you own your home, rent it for the year instead of selling it. Speak to your employers about options for returning to work after a year’s leave, or continuing to work from overseas. If applicable, speak to your children’s schools about your plans of moving temporarily and ask them how to keep your children academically on par so that they can reintegrate easily the following year, should you decide to return. Whatever the decision, endeavor to make it together. Just as you have a responsibility to your husband, so too he has an obligation to lookout for your happiness and wellbeing. If you both truly embrace this notion, there is no doubt that you will come to the solution that is best for everyone.
