58 Community magazine Sefer Torah Dedication at Congregation Bet Yaakov Congregation Bet Yaakov led by Rabbi Eli J. Mansour celebrated a double simha last month with their move to a new building at 1801 Ocean Parkway on the corner of Avenue R and inauguration of a new Sefer Torah. The beautiful silver engraved sefer Torah was dedicated by the women of the community in honor of Rabbi Mansour. Rabbi Mansour has been delivering a well attended week- ly women’s class for several years. The celebration, which drew hun- dreds of participants, took place on Shabbat Shuva weekend, Sunday October 5 th . The event included break- fast at the newAhaba Ve Ahva at 1748 Ocean Parkway followed by a pro- cession, which made its way across Ocean Parkway to Congregation Bet Yaakob’s new home. Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Bnei Brak Visits Community... in Hong Kong On Shabbat Parshat Noah (October 31 - November 1), in the midlle of the China Import and Export Fair, the Kehilat Zion congregation in Hong Kong was graced by the presence of one of the Torah giants of the generation, Rabbi Shlomo Amram Korach shlit’a, Chief Rabbi of the city of Bnei Brak and author of more than 22 books on Talmud, Jewish Law and Kabala .The large number of community members who were in Hong Kong for the fair were treated to inspiring Torah lectures by the Rabbi, and special prayers were recited in light of the international financial crisis. The Rabbi will likewise visit Kehilat Zion in Guangzhou at the Ritz Carlton Hotel at the third part of the fair in early November. Community Chest
