46 COMMUNITY MAGAZINE UK Bans Feiglin, Welcomes Mousawi The UK’s Home Office has banned Likud central committee member Moshe Feiglin from entering Britain, even though he has no plans to visit. In a letter to Feiglin, the Home Office wrote that Feiglin’s “presence in the country is not conducive to the public good,” in a post-London Tube bombing timeframe. The unac- ceptable activities listed in the two-page letter included “writing, producing, publishing or distributing material; public speaking” to “foment or justify terrorist violence in furtherance of particular beliefs… which might lead to inter-community violence in the UK.” Feiglin once wrote that Islam “abolishes both benevolence and morals – their holy Muhammad is strong, cruel and deceit- ful.” There is no right to appeal the ban, but such decisions are reviewed every three years. Meanwhile, British authorities granted permission to Ibrahim Mousawi, chief foreign news editor for Hizbullah’s Al-Manar television station in Lebanon, to enter the UK to participate in a number of political events, although he has been accused of anti-Semitism and incitement and was recently banned from entering Ireland. –CM Staff Israel Among US ‘Top 5’ Countries Americans like Israel, but not as much as they like Canada, Great Britain, Germany and Japan. Gallup asked US residents to rate 22 countries for its 2008 World Affairs survey. Seventy-one percent of respondents had a favorable view of Israel. Canada, Great Britain, Germany, and Japan won favor with at least 80 percent of Americans, while Iraq, the Palestinian Authority, North Korea and Iran were viewed favorably by no more than 20 percent. Israel was ranked fifth on the 2008 list, slightly higher than India and France. Israel, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are all viewed more favorably by Republicans than by Democrats; France, Mexico, China, Venezuela, and Cuba are all viewed more favorably by Democrats than by Republicans. –CM Staff Israel to Sanction Al-Jazeera Israel said recently it would impose sanctions on the influential Arab satellite network Al-Jazeera, accusing it of slanted coverage favoring the violent Hamas movement, according to World Net Daily. Israel’s deputy foreign minister said the government would deny visas to the Qatar-based station’s employees and Israeli officials would no longer agree to be interviewed by the network. The minister noted that Al-Jazeera has become part of Hamas, and takes sides against Israel. Israel was especially incensed by the network’s coverage of the most recent round of intense violence in Hamas-ruled Gaza, saying it rarely showed Israeli casualties or Palestinian rocket fire. Al-Jazeera’s bureau chief in Jerusalem has now accused Israel of trying to influence the station’s coverage of the news, and denied his station was biased. –CM Staff Emil’s providEs thE bEst complEtE automotivE sErvicE in NY , guaranteed!
