fashion flash W hat happens when high fashion marries high octane ath- letics? Well, we get the cutest collection of couture activewear that even the Olympics committee would approve of! Contrary to popular belief, sport and style can go hand in hand quite nicely. These athlete inspired, activity friendly cloth- ing and accessories are oh-so-comfortable, and easy to dress up or down for no sweat style, whether your specialty is the 100 yard dash to the mall or weightlifting a week’s worth of groceries. With the recent popularity of “new age” workouts such as Pilates and yoga, designers are making quite an effort to satisfy this growing market, creating looks that allow for free movement, yet do not sacrifice shape and style. Even apparel not intended for the gym are being sportified, with racing stripes, and bright Gatorade inspired hues. And it doesn’t just stop at the clothes- shoulder bags are being passed off as “yoga bags” (some even being accompanied by a yoga mat!), bowling bags and duffels are nicknamed “gym bags,” sunglasses are now “ski goggles” and even your basic sneak- er has now earned the title of “America’s Cup” (leave it to Prada to make a most basic shoe sound runway ready). So whether your thing is yoga, jogging, running, skiing, or even more offbeat like puddle jumping (see adorable Kors rainboot), get in the game with something sporty- even if it’s on a stiletto heel.
