W hat better way to kick the cloudy day blues than with the new bright and shiny fall collection! OK, so these light reflecting fashions won’t exactly make the sun shine, but they are sure to amp up the voltage of any old outfit. Shoes and bags have dismissed traditional leather con- struction and have exploded into high glossy, polyurethane, patent leather and satin creations. Skirts have transformed from structured, matte cotton into super shiny, liquid silk and satin. Even trendy bomber jackets (the new shape for jackets this fall) have oiled up and kicked into a high satin shine. Although traditionally a staple material for eveningwear, satin has gaduated into daytime, though there are certain guide- lines on exactly how to wear it in the AM. Generally, satin does well during the day in neutral, lighter shades such as baby pink, champagne and beige. Try to avoid more severe colors such as black, greens and blues; these will give the appearance of fancy evening apparel and will look completely out of place during daylight hours. Satin should be paired with toned down, muted tops and accessories, acting as the focal point of an outfit, and should be the only thing on you that shines (besides your win- ning smile, of course). So once the winter doldrums grab hold of you, grab one of your irresistably glossy pieces and shine on! fashion flash BY : JENNIFER COHEN Patent Leather Frame Bag, Prada Studded Patent Pump, Dior Satin Bomber Jacket, Allen B Patent Loafer Pump, Miu Miu Faceted Quartz Earrings, M + J Savitt Croco Embossed Patent Buckle Bag, Celine Croco Embossed Patent Bow Bag, Nancy Gonzales Pink Satin Embroidered Skirt, BCBG Pink Satin Pleated Skirt, DKNY Waxed Leather Obi Belt, Fina Firenze Mini Paillette Bag, Lauren Tango Layered Satin Frame Bag, Lulu Guiness
