E-Z Pass at the Airport? Now you can pay for air- port parking at JFK with E-ZPass Plus. E-ZPass customers who replenish their accounts with a credit card and established their accounts through the New York Service Center are already in the EZ-Pass Plus program. Customers from the Regional Consortium Service Center (New Jersey) will be added to the program in the second quarter of 2003. Newark and LaGuardia Airports will begin accepting E-ZPass at parking lots by the middle of 2003. Eligible E-ZPass Plus customers who do NOT want to use E-ZPass Plus to pay for airport parking have several options: 1. Place the E-ZPass tag in the metallic “read prevention bag” when using staffed parking lot exit lanes marked “ E-ZPass Plus , Cash/Credit Card” 2. Clearly indicate to the cashier that you do NOT want to use E-ZPass Plus to pay your airport parking fee when using staffed parking lot exit lanes marked “ E-ZPass Plus , Cash/Credit Card” 3. Use exit lanes marked with “Cash/Credit Card Only” on the overhead signs. 4. Use an ExpressPay machine inside the terminal to pay for parking. Then, when exiting through any lane, including an “ E-ZPass Plus Only” lane, the system will know that you have already paid and your E-ZPass account will not be charged. s ” xc *Garbage: Residents who are normally scheduled for collec- tion on the day of a holiday should place their trash out at curb- side on the holiday evening for collection. The Good News: Save the $1 statement fee by choosing online statements instead of paper (you’ll need internet access to review your charges of course). The Other Good News: Save up to $4 on the Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing, George Washington Bridge and Bayonne Bridge by enrolling in the PORT AUTHORITY CARPOOL PLAN. There is no fee to join but you must call to add the plan to your account. When traveling with three or more people in a vehicle with non-commercial plates, use a staffed “Full Service” lane and come to a complete stop so that the toll collector can verify the number of occupants in the vehicle. Tell the toll booth attendant “Carpool” and your E-ZPass account will be charged a toll rate of $1.00 instead of $5 at peak hours or $4 off peak. The Carpool Plan is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Call to enroll: New York Accounts - 800 333-TOLL Beginning next month, New York City will have a new phone number. Part of a project championed by Mayor Bloomberg and under the authority of Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) Commissioner Gino P. Menchini, the new 311 phone system will be launched sometime in March 2003. Designed to handle non-emergency issues, the service seeks to integrate New York City’s vast system of information services. The one easy-to-remember 311 phone number will provide New Yorkers easy access to all City services, including street repairs, illegally parked vehicle removals, tree prunings, and tax or tourist information. In addition, it will allow the City to reduce operating costs use resources more efficiently, measure accountability and feedback, and deliver timely, consistent, and personalized customer service. “By introducing the 311 phone system, the City will end the frustrating bureaucracy New Yorkers encounter when they need help,” Mayor Bloomberg said. “This Citizen Service initiative will allow City residents to obtain important non-emergency services through one central, all-pur- pose phone number quickly and effectively.” The 411 on 311
